so....i've taken my pfaff grand quilter off the quilting frame, and use it now to sew and quilt. do you need a walking foot, or do you use the pressure adjustment and use the standard foot? thanks

I use a standard foot, because I dont own a walking foot... but have my eye on one.... smile

the walking foot is (for me) essential for straight stitching on quilts...stitch in ditch and very gentle curves and any other straight line stitching. For free motion quilting, get a darning or quilting foot (different names are used...drop your feed dogs and move your quilt around for FMQ.

I love my walking foot. I use it for everything.

I have the walking foot for my grand quilter. It does a better job with it I think.

A walking foot is a great investment. I think you would be pleased to, once you own and use one :D:D:D

I have done it both ways, with and without a walking foot. I have a Viking D1 and the Walking Foot was an investment for me, but when I finally decided to "bite the bullet" so to speak, and purchase it, I was soooo happy. No more bunching backing for me!
