I've read some people that say they have 3 or more and was wondering if you use them all? Are they for different purposes? Why have more than one?

I'm talking just regular machines, not embroidery or specialty machines.

I have two at the moment, but only one works. The other needs to be tuned up, but I'm just looking for a new home for it rather than fix it. May end up just giving it to goodwill as it's taking up too much space. Altho, I'm wondering if there may be a use for it after all that I'm missing.

I have three machines. My Husqvarna 500 that I use daily. It doesn't do anything fancy, but then I don't want to do anything fancy. I have my mother's Singer in a cabinet that she got when she graduated high school in the early 1950's. I don't use it but it works and only does straight stitching. I also have my grandmother's (mom's mom) sewing machine. I think it is from the 1930's. The story I was told about it says that it wasn't electric and grandpa saved 10 silver dollars to have it made electric, then the guy wanted more and grandpa wouldn't pay it. I don't think it works but it has a family history.
Oh yeah, I also have a small child's singer I got when I was like 10. It makes a lot of noise and is just fun to keep. More family history.

4 other singers that are old that I don't remember the model numbers of.
I finally told hubby to quit bringing home sewing machines. LOL I hope that I haven't left any out.

I have 9 (if I havent left any out) Only 2 that are set up for use. I inherited my Grandma Millers treadle machine, My Grandma Bullards machine, DH's Great grandma Shaws machine, & my Daughter Kacies, machine. I have the other 2 girls machines I bought for them but they show no inclination to sew at all. I have a machine that DH bought at an auction before he was DH. Then I have my Bernina that should be about retiring age and my Kenmore that was the first machine I bought after high school.( The bernina is my main machine and the kenmore I use for what ever comes up when I am in the middle of something on the B.)
I really really want to get a new Bernina but DH cant see past the fact that I have 9 machines(MEN!)

I use the 301s the most for quilting
the 401 is a workhorse and sew far, sews anything
the xl and the brother are for embroidery which has taken a back seat to my quilting

I have a Singer Creative Touch 1030 that I use here at home. I have my mother's 1952 Singer that I use when I am visiting my Dad. It sits ready to rock at any moment in time :D and still sews wonderfully. I also have my aunt's Singer Touch and Sew that was given to my Mom, who never used it. I have determined that it still sews wonderfully too and is the same kind I used when I took Home Economics in High School. I'll definitely have it looked at and tuned up before using it, however.

I have six machines:
1. Viking Husquarvana 1100 that I use for everything

2. 1940 Singer in cabinet that was my grandmothers

3.Another Singer in a cabinet that was my other grandmothers (but I don't know if she actually ever used it or had it as an antique for decoration)

4. A Singer that has a rounded wooden carrying case, I'm guessing around 75 years old at least (I'm panicking right now cause I can't find my little key that opens it, you know....put it in a safe place and then forget where that is?) but it is a beautiful machine.

5. Brother LS 2125-inexpensive machine I bought at Walmart when daughter said she wanted to learn and sure enough she quit half way through so I'm glad I didn't spend more on it. I have never used it but am keeping it as a back up in case I have to put mine in the shop or something, I think it would probably do piecing just fine. I'm also going to try and use it for some satin stitching because my Viking does not like the thermo bond stuff I use for applique.

6. Dressmaker JA2- I have no idea how old this is, having trouble finding any info on it but it is absolutely beautiful, it is a creamy chocolate or caramel color with cream accents.

I have 6 machines total. Two Bernina sewing machines a 1260 and a 1530 for general sewing and quilting. A Bernina serger with built in rolled hem and a Bernina 650 embroidery machine. I also have a Singer featherweight that I was lucky enough to find at a yard sale for just $20. It was almost never used. I use it for workshops etc. I also have an antique tredle machine I purchased from an antique shop. It still works.
I fell in love with Berninas when I worked for a dealer for about a year. I learned to sew on my mother's Singer featherweight that she purchased in 1936. After she died I let my neices have it as they had learned to sew on it when they visited my mother.
I am guilty of constantly buying presents for my machines like embroidery cards or special feet.
