    If you really want a stable back for the blocks-try using used fabric dryer sheets....i use them instead of paper for paper in paper piecing...that eliminates the time consuming job of tearing off...

    Interesting......I was taught that stitch when putting hems in garments...lay the fabric over your forefinger as you create the stitch gives it bit of give & the finished look is an invisible stitch.
