    You could extend the 1 1/2 strip out into the pinwheels. The corner pinwheels would have the strip on each side. That way you won't need to re-figure anything.

    If you use a print, make sure you wash it first. A local quilt shop made covers out of a really pretty print. The colors ran when someone spritzed water on the fabric. It was the teachers fabric.
