    I think gold on dark fabric is maybe a little too much . Agree they would look better laying same direction , but other than that it is an extremely striking and dramatic hanging

    I use dedicated embroidery thread eg R.A. or madeira it gives a beautiful sheen. Alweays use bobbin thread underneath unless the back will show. Your brother will then make fantastic embroideries...
