When my children were young, now in their 30s, I made most of their clothes. Fabric prices made it advantageous to sew rather than buy kid's clothes.
When my grandaughter Emma (my avatar) was born, I purchased Pooh eyelet and white cotton for the dress below. I'm sure I could have bought the dress for less than $30. Construction-wise, the armholes and neck facings were so small and precise, yikes, quilting is much easier.
I'll give it another shot though, I guess it's in my blood-Challenge!
