I know what you mean. *I* on the other hand got to get some quilting in on work time. The Tornado sirens went off and we had to go to the basement. I naturally grabbed my bag and ... oh look....I had some hand sewing in there I could do while everybody was waiting for the sirens to stop. :) It stopped too soon, I was making such good progress.
Wow, I can't believe you had a tornado this late in the year? Does that happen often? Good thing you had you hand sewing with you.
