One of the first things I ever learned to sew was a yo yo. At age five we children begged granny for scraps and we turn a saucer upside down, traced the circles onto the material and then cut them out. Baste around the edges and then pull the thread until the yo yo was formed. sew a couple anchor stiches and flatten them.
My signature yo yo item ( I have no picture ) is a clown rag doll and I use stren fishing line to lace them in stacks together. Every child in my family has received one, the fishing line makes it hold up through mud puddle baths and washing machines.
