When washing flannel, do you recommend washing on warm or cold? I am wouldn't think hot? I always wonder about this and thought it was time to ask for your help! Thanks for any responses!

If you are prewashing to make sure you get all the shrinkage to happen that is going to, then I would go on and use either warm or hot.
On the other hand if you are wanting to decrease the possibility of shrinking now, use cold.

I wash in hot the first time for cotton and fleece and flannel to get maximum shrinkage and running colors out. IMHO!!!

I prewash every fabric with a color catcher sheet and a tsp of Synthopol (a color fixative used by hand dyers) in hot water. That helps ward off the disaster of inconsistent shrinkage between various fabrics in a project as well as migrating dye. I dry in a pemanent press or delicate cycle to minimize wrinkling. That's a trick I learned from Sharyn Craig. Minimizes ironing.

Ditto. I also add white vinegar to the rinse to help set colors.Originally Posted by cjomomma
