I do it when I'm trying to finish cutting out and it starts to skip, then I get the foil out and sharpen the edge so I can finish, just helps get a few more miles out of the cutter. It does work, but doesn't last too long.

I wanted to say that I have used the Harbor Freight blades& liked 'em. I bought 10 pkdges about a year ago. Of the 6 pkdges that I've opened I've only had 3 blades that were bad.(I did give some of 'em away.) I guess It's about time to drive to Odessa (30 min.s away,) & get some more 'cause I only have one pkdgd left. I'll try the foil first.I also need a 60mm blade but I don't guess I'll get that at Harbor Freight. :) I'm definitely going to try this foil trick on it. Thanks again!!

I sharpen my scissors and rotary cutter blades by cutting through several layers of sandpaper. It works for me.

Thank you for the tip. I can't wait to try it. I just bought a pack of 5 for my 60 mm. As you say, even with a 40% coupon, they are still expensive. I still have a 45 mm that I need a new blade for, so will give this a try.

I have heard of this for sharpening scissors but haven't heard for sharpening blades. Haven't tried it but will when I get back home. I'm currently in WV in a hotel without my sewing machine! Been here for almost 2 weeks maybe able to come home Friday - Sunday at the latest Am having withdrawal symptoms big time!
