Congratulations, Chrisy on two fronts. What a wonderful experience to complete this quilt filled with love and exciterment. Each time I make a quilt I feel like a baby has been born or birthed when the labor of love is completd. You are off to a great start. Thank you for sharing your first with us. May it be passed down to future genrations in your family.

You did a great job. You have to start somewhere. Did doing your first one get you hooked and now your itching to do another one?

That's a great first quilt! I bet you can't wait to tuck it around your new son. Congratulations!

Ok, I am so hormonal right now, that anything could bring tears, but the sweetness of your kind words would probably make me tear up even if I wasn't having a baby in a week!!! Thank you all so much for making me feel welcome here. Truly, I believe this board will be why I keep trying to get better at this gorgeous craft!

I already have a quilt picked out to make for my parents for Christmas--now when I'm going to do it with a 2 year old and a brand new baby in the house, I'm not quite sure, but it will work out.

Thank you all, again, for your warmth, good wishes and encouragement!

Crafts and being creative can keep you sane! I think I enjoyed my craft times more when the kids were tiny because it got me out of my little world for a bit of time.

Of course, in those years we had so little money that the only option was making my own Xmas decorations and many of the gifts too. The kids, who now have their own children, still like to decorate their trees with some of Mom's old handmade decorations. What I thought was economizing turned out to be memory making. :)

Good luck in labor and delivery and may everything go smoothly. Let us know how you are after the baby is born.

    Love

The biggest favor you can do for yourself is getting an 1/4 inch foot. It has a little piece of metal on it's right side to keep your seam at 1/4 inch. I can not tell you how much that will help your seams stay at 1/4 inch..Ask at where ever you bought your machine or where you buy fabric. They have them for all makes and models, it'll be your best friend. I think it is a great idea to number your quilts, I wish I had thought of that when I started. I recently tried to make a list of all the quilts I've made over the last 35 years and it was hard to do. I have pictures of most of them but some I gave away before I took a photo. I now have a list of my quilts. when they were made, for whom and the date completed and a small photo album of most of them I add to it with every quilt. Welcome to the world of quilting.

Nice job. And I am glad that you went with deeper colors. I get so tired of pastel for babies.
