Wonderful! It is so great to know that we all manage to quilt and use what we have, whether, it's a small space to sew, limited income, older machines, and maybe even limited stash on hand. From our homes, we manage to express and create. As I view websites and blogs from all over the world, it is refreshing to see down-to-earth solutions such as this iron rest. Not all of us can afford the fancy/smancy machines and do dads, but can made-do from what we have on hand. Thank you for posting!

I have the built in one on my ironing board but for portable this works wonderful, thanks for the tip.

My ironing board has a built on iron rest at the end of it.

My iron turns off automatically after about two minutes if left flat. I turns off after about 14 minutes if left standing up. I wonder what it would think about if left half way in between? ? ? LOL

Thanks for the wonderful tip. I have an iron with points at both ends so I always had to lay it on its side. Going to try your trick. Also going to have hubby look at my other irons. May be the same problem.
