I was very leery of buying an embroidery machine on line. However, I bought my Bernina 630 on eBay and the shipper was fantastic. He packed it so well that even the UPS guy who delivered it commented on how it was packed. The seller also sent a piece of material with a sample of all the stitches the machine could do, and, as a really nice touch, embroidered my name on the sampler. I have had it for over 3 years now and have never had a problem with it. Check the seller's rating, ask him/her any question you have before deciding. After I received mine, I had it checked out at my local quilt shop (150 miles round trip!) and the lady said I got a great machine and a good deal! Good luck!

I have bought 2 online, ebay and overstock.com...have had no problems at all...living where I do ebay is my "mall". It is where I go first if I am looking for something. We have a walmart but not real helpful at times LOL Have had no problems.

One day, I happened to mention this exact concern to my local sewing store who handles Bernina and Babylock, and they said, "Well, how do you think we get those machines HERE?"

I guess that answered my concern....LOL
