    Also, you might try cutting the thumb out of an old kid glove. That's what I use for a thimble since I can't seem to keep a metal thimble on my finger.

    Oh my, what a stunning quilt! I can't imagine that kind of painful hand quilting and you did a wonderfuly job.
    This is certainly a quilt you can be proud of for many years to come.
