I used scraps and certainly didn't finish on 1 Jan! I made the first few 4 patches totally scrappy, then decided to redo these and make the 4 patches by color. Now I have scraps of scraps. It's a bit bigger than nap size and I used full and half pinwheels for an outer border.

Belfrybat, I think your first choice looks contrast-y enough. Seems to me that dark and medium being too close together is more of a problem than medium and light. But yes, when in doubt do the B and W picture thing for contrast decisions. I looked at b and W pictures for this Merry Mayhem fabric, then didn't follow it like I should have, and wish I had. Medium and dark were too close together.

Thank you, Pamelor for your suggestion. I'm going with the first choice. Now to make a gazzilion HSTs.

    Done!

I used funky square freehand quilting and a pieced back and binding to finish this one off.

I think this is my quickest finish of a MMM yet. I actually have another one in my UFO’s from … *ahem* … several years ago.

This one was fun; I used only stash, including some of my prodigious collection of 2.5” squares. The design kept me guessing the whole time!

@thimblebug6000 I *wish* I had a longarm! No, I quilt on my Janome 6700. Thank you for the kind words!

Quossum - your quilting is great! I am still struggling with freehand quilting on my Janome and am impressed by yours. Your whole quilt turned out really well. Mine is coming home from the longarm on Monday and I already have the binding made.

Quossum, what a beautiful finish and I think the back and quilting turned out great too. Maybe I'll try squares for my quilting, so far I've only done the "meandering" quilting and not sure I'm up to squares yet.
