My mom gave me my grandma for Christmas

what an awesome story & how awesome your grandmother meant that much to you. The way society is today there's going to be very few young kids that admire the ground that their grandparents walk on & I so hate to see that happen. I don't know how or what happens to make that grand parent so special because I too wanted my 2 boys to worship their grand parents but they too were too busy in their late teens & 20's. I think that is so awesome when people are so close like that.

Oh great, now I'm crying too. I lost my grandmother in August of 1969, the month we both celebrated our birthdays. She never sewed but she did teach me how to crochet, she loved to read, and she was game for anything crafty. She lived with us for a while and for Christmas I bought her a 1 year subscription to a craft club, which included a "bonus" month so she received two December kits to make ornaments. Those ornaments are one of my most prized possessions. When I put them on the tree I always cry but I also feel blessed that I had her in my life.

Okay, I wiped my eyes and can now see again. Your story is so beautiful I cried happy tears of joy for you. I love the picture of your adorable daughter with your wonderqul quilt jacket. Please post pictures of the finished quilt so that we can share in your happiness of completing a family treasure that you will pass on to your daughter. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story.

That is beyond words. It is just awesome! I know how much you miss your grandmother, because I miss mine the same. She, also was a marvelous seamstress. She made me clothes and other things with no patterns. I know whatever talents I have in that area come from her. Such a gift is just beyond measure!

Great gift and great story. I can relate to receiving this treasure, and to missing your grandmother. I'm glad you have this project to complete; it will be wonderful for you to have your work alongside hers on this quilt.
Thanks for posting.
