    Here is what I am working on finishing by way of example...my strips were too short so I added fabric on the sides but not the bottom. The borders are the same 2 fabrics alternated between the narrower strips in the body of the quilt.

    For yours, I would go with the floral running along the sides, maybe a 3" strip? Then add another border perhaps of the blue you mention? and put nothing across the top or bottom.

    The main pattern covers the bed and I think yours is lovely!

    I agree....this was my first thought as I looked at the pictures. It is a stunning quilt and I believe that continuation of the pattern on the sides will blend with the drop at the ends.
