When I was little I was always following my daddy around, asking him what he was doing. He would always say, " I'm white-washing a battleship gray". Since he worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard I was firmly convinced that's really what he did. When I was in the 4th grade our class took a tour of the shipyard but I never did see a white-washed battleship.

My grandmother likes to say "Slower than a 7 year itch and 5 years behind on the scratchin"

another phrase used in my family is "Hell's half acre" which I just found out is an actual place. :-)

"Don't even think about it!" because it ALWAYS makes me consider doing whatever it is that I shouldn't even think about doing! Haha

My DH is from Alabama. He has so many of these I can't remember them all. One I had never heard before is "don't that just beat a goose a gobbling" How about"lower then a snails belly" or "lower then whale s--t." Or" slicker then snot on a doorknob"....I could go on and on. I hear this all the time.

My ex and his family say "cut off the lights" and "pick up the floors" I always told him it's too expensive to cut off the lights just turn them off, and the floor is too heavy to pick up!

I have many of these but can't seem to remember alot of them.

My brother always say "If I was any better I would be twins!"

"He is so dumb he couldn't pour pee out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel."

"I am so hungry I could eat the a**hole out of an alligator in a phone booth.

"It's hotter than two weasels breeding in a bread sack"

"It's hotter than two rats screwing in a wool sock"

and Grandma always said "never take a lazy man's load!"
