Got the first fabric instructions this past Sunday-I'm behind before even starting. Got out largest pieces of fabric. Had 3 pieces for this project. Shopping found a print of orange and purple. So my choices are dark purple, medium/light orange, light watercolor print and purchased medium value orange/purple print. New purchased fabric should be here by next week. Next week, my daughter can teach me to take picture with i-phone and transfer to android computer and post picture to site. Changing computer introduces a learning curve.

As to trimming; I sew the block using a scant 1/4" seam. There's usually enough to trim a scant. Or it's just right.

Yay, Petthefabric, I'm glad you will be able to join us and hope you can get the picture posting figured out. I am hoping in my trip next week my friend Barb will be able to transition me to actually taking pictures with my cellphone, and how to transfer them that way. My vision issues prevent me from doing much online on my phone, but I will have my laptop with me too.

I think there are a number of people waiting until after Thanksgiving to start on the traditional Black Friday weekend. You will be in good company. And I'm going to miss a week of Bonnie and will have to do my own catch up a week or two from now...

I'm including some of the trimming pictures because periodically we get comments on the board on "I hear about cutting large but how does that work?".

Most of my units came out very well -- I did get them trimmed at group. I think they all would have been acceptable if I cut to Bonnie's directions -- she really does give good directions. A couple did go a bit on the narrow side of the trim, but with the cutting large I pretty much never have to redo any. Which is good because part of the other secrets to my success (in addition to ironing and pinning) is using tiny stitches that I really can't see and it is easier for me to redo than unsew. When I have to redo stuff, it is a big deal for me, so I try not to. I used to do it with a lot of thought and precision and adequate vision, now I'm a little easier going.

FYI, I can't figure out how to post from my phone either. I take phone with phone email to myself. save and reduce size and save a final copy to my Photos File by year. Then when I want too post I retrieve it from my laptop and attach to my message.

I have to say it took a while for me to figure out how to post from my laptop, but now it is second nature. I do have written directions if any one wants them.

So pleased to get Part 1 completed! Each set is made from different fabrics from all the other sets. One set had to be replaced because the peach fabric seemed too dark, and there are a few blues in these sets that may be too dark and not play well with others...we'll see. I love having as much variety as I can with Bonnie's patterns. It makes them so lively!

They look fabulous, pinkflowers! I so agree with you about the variety.

Thus far this week I've been working on a binding. It's the first quilt I sent out to be quilted, and I used it untrimmed all last winter. Now that I've trimmed it, I know I can't use it 'til it's bound, and it's a good winter quilt. I asked for a polyester batting so it's nice and warm (although not very drapey). I hope to finish up my work on it today, then I can put it on the couch and hand stitch at my leisure, and get back to previous plans. And then there's the Friday clue to look forward to!

I am still standing firm on my Monochrome -- but love those pretty colors!

My clue 1 is bagged in a gallon ziploc along with my extra pieces (plan on making the final project king size).

Today is a quiet home day with just the hubby and me. We brined a smallish turkey and will do it on the smoker -- and then snow is expected this weekend so we will make sure it (the pellet) is all cleaned and covered for the next month or two.

And then Friday is Clue 2! Told the hubby would be a good day for him to go bowling if he wanted... Spent some time appreciating my vision over the last year, this year is so much better than last year. I have to be kind to myself on the quality of my work on the mystery last year. I did really good compared to my lack of vision -- but again, this year is better.
