I'm an American and had to get used to taking off the shoes at the door. However, I don't ALWAYS do it. Depends if I have to go right back out again. :)

But it is strange to look at books and articles with people even sitting on beds with their shoes on. It seems so strange to me after 16 years of living here.

that is so funny. i was notorious for pulling out the vacuum cleaner just before dh came home so it would look like i vacuumed. i had to remember to plug it in.

isn't it amazing what you can make someone believe without saying a word?

MY very favorite trick was hitting the front door about 5 minutes before hubby came home and rushing to the kitchen and putting on a pan of water to boil. Looked like I was "busy cooking". I used to do the make up thing when I worked out of the home, now I figure after 51 years "HE" has seen me at my worst so many times it doesnt matter and since retirement, we both R E L A X, although I usually find the shower and clothes around noon just in case he's up for lunch OUT!!! :lol:
