Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt 2017 - En Provence
#1821
I have a wonderful quilting neighbor who came over and found the problem. I had made one substitution: Fire engine red for the magenta. That was fighting with the greens and the purples. I still have the terrible picture which I will post as soon as this camera thing is fixed.

Beautiful, Krista! Thanks for sharing your pictures. I am planning to make 2 quilts tops also but wasn't sure how to divide them up. I made all of the blocks up to the last step. When I get back to it, I will look at your pictures again.
I really have enjoyed all of the pictures and comments. This is my first Bonnie Hunter quilt and, like Battle Axe, my piecing skills are improving.

Battle Axe, (love your name, btw
) it might flow better once all the blocks are together, vs looking hard at one single one. Most of Bonnie's patterns are meant to be viewed as a whole and from a distance. I don't think it's too scrappy. Keep calm and quilt on!
Edited to add: Maybe a softer yellow would calm it down and make it look less like the yellow is fighting the red. Just an idea.

Thanks NZ. I took the red out and put in a burgundy. I wondered about that yellow, but I like the yellow so much. I will sew some of it together tomorrow and post a picture.
How are all the earthquakes??????

Battle Axe, it's great that you have a neighbor who could offer some input. When I first looked at your picture, I didn't even register the sashing pieces as part of the quilt. I think my brain figured they were part of another project ( I often have a mish-mash on my design wall). Sounds like your switch will do the trick (although I don't envy you re-making all those tri-rec blocks).
Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments. I was a bit disappointed in myself for sticking with Bonnie's colours this year but it was what I had in my stash, and I do love the final result.

I'm going to try to post two pictures. I had to make a trip to Verizon to figure out why my phone won't talk to my computer.

This is the first block. I put a double checkerboard of purple and white along side. I may take that away. This is soooo busy and I still don't like the yellow/gold. I'd appreciate suggestions, help, criticism, whatever you've got.

I didn't see the mistake until I stared at the picture. The half square triangles on the left side are turned wrong. At least my skills are improving. I can nest seams with a Look Ma...No Pins!!
