My 14 year old is making a blue D9P that is made from fabric left over from the log cabin his grandma (my mom) made for me years ago.

I love working with both of them. I just wish that my oldest didn't want to use the only machine I can quilt on. And I wish both of them would learn to pin their own stuff.

This quilt may swallow her when it comes time to put it together!
Give the kids washable glue sticks and have them use that to 'pin' the fabric together. I have to do that because I can't handle the pins well. Since I started using it, my piecing is much improved, which is a real bonus for me.

That is so great, and she is only 6!!! I think you better buy her a large hope chest. By the time she marries, she will have quilts galore.

How wonderful, my son was interested in quilting when he was about 12, until he got bored using the sewing machine, he 1/2 finished a quilt, had picked out the fabrics himself and the LQS workers all thought that was just great lol. My daughter, 19, has never had an interest in sewing, but she is great with patterns, colors and fabrics, just not the sewing process sigh. Enjoy it while she is interested and hopefully it will stick.
