I have a bolt of warm and natural and the paper that is wrapped around the bolt says "Only the highest grade, 100% cotton fibers are selected to be punched with hundreds of needles through a strong, thin base material." So to me that says the thin base is more than likely the polyester fabric. The box that the bolt comes in only says 100% cotton. I have used this batting for hot pads, but I wouldn't use it in the Microwave.

The poly in Warm and Natural when nuked, may absorb into the food... don't know if that is a good thing. It is in the plastic family, and plastics need to be labeled microwave safe :wink: I would only use 100% cotton :D:D:D

I am not sure you can use regular batting. I have heard of some of these going on fire in the microwave. Not sure if that was the reason but better safe than sorry.

One interesting thing I learned in my years of longarm quilting: I buy Hobbs battings. Hobbs makes 2 kinds of "100% cotton" batting - one with scrim and one without! Look for a cotton without scrim.

I used warm and natural and it was fine. I just checked warm and natural's website, so the big difference per the company is : "Warm Tater is 100% natural cotton that hasn’t been chemically treated ," but I wonder how much of a difference that makes since the fabrics we use on the outside are treated.

The company also says the warm and tater is not fire-retardant, either.

Dream cotton is 100% cotton.

I have heard that the tater-warm has a "thing" about it that reflexes the heat back into the fabric, rather than through the fabric like the warm & natural would.
Does that make any sense? But I do not know if this is true or not. Might be something to check into.

It does make sense to me to use the warm-tater that they recommend, if they have that special heating thing to it.

i wash,do not dry,spray with pam then wrap with saran wrap. nuke it then takes it out and drop it in an oven mit till dinner is ready, they are fluffy and moist.
