ORRRRR, while it's still piping hot, plop a slice of cheese over it and let it melt a little before devouring it. Slurp!

I use a slice of plain ole American cheese. Love it on apple pie too.

Skeat, you are wonderful!!! Thanks for posting this recipe.

Well, I found out that DH would only eat cherry pie if it was the absolute last thing on earth. So, I nixed the cherry idea :(

Tonight I modified your recipe as follows:
used a 2 qt. rectangular cake dish and 325 degrees F.

1 stick butter, melted and cinnamon sprinkled on top

used 1/2 cup Splenda brand brown sugar in batter because it is
equivalent to 1 cup regular brown sugar in sweetness

generous 3 and 1/2 cups sliced raw apples (Washington delicious
variety which needed to be used up)

Tablespoon of regular cinnamon sugar mixture sprinkled on top after
    taking baked item from oven

Hubby has type 2 diabetes and thinks this dessert is great. He is as happy as can be and I have something special to make for DH :)

    Thanks again, Skeat :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Susan, so glad you liked the recipe!:0)My mom does exactly as you w/the sugar for my dad for he is borderline on his sugar. Prob if she'd find all his chocolate stashes he wouldn't have an issue!LOL So glad for your dh-I bet he is a happy camper and feel'n the love now over there!LOL Skeat

He sure does, Skeat. DH was given a second serving of the apple cobbler last evening. He even told his sister that tasting that cobbler was like seventh heaven :)

I will send the original recipe to my kids, along with the modification for the diabetic.

Moderation, moderation, moderation. I wish I could live that where chocolate is concerned....................

    Piecefully yours,
    Kay Susan
