House of White Birches has published a book (48 pages) called Quick and Easy Quilted Sweatshirt. 14 pages explain how to transform a pullover into a cardigan. The other pages are instructions to decorate the cardigans in many styles.

I've made a couple. I cut up the front, take the ribbing off the neck, wrists, and bottom. I made up binding like you would put on a quilt, and sewed that on where I took the ribbing off. One thing I noticed on one where I took the neck binding off, it was floppy and never looked right. So, with that being said, I would leave the neck binding on.

I have made several of the Jackets, as I leave the band on the neck on and buy ribbon stitching onto each side. I wear these around my house because I have very dry skin, so keep my apt cooler than most 68 degrees. I start my ribbon on the inside band at the neck, then bring it over the top and down the front, ending it on the inside of bottom band where it begins, that way all edges are covered, top and bottom. You can also attach a hook/eye at the top.

I don't cut off any ribbing, and I put a zipper up the middle where I sliced it. Quick and easy, and I can spend my time making it awesome with embellishments and bling. My girls and their peeps LOVE them.

recently I made a vest and a jacket from sweatshirts and my necklines were very floppy and too wide , so I had to do a couple darts in back to bring it up higher, but my next one will leave the bottom band and the neck band on and just cover them . I also thought in the future I might v-neck them. Here's pictures of my 2 projects

I just took a class on this! Press the center fold in down the front and stitch all each edge of the fold before you cut! This eliminates stretching. We also stitched just about the bottom band before cutting it off. Use fusible interfacing on your bands, ours were 4.5 inches wide for the front band and folded over equally, the neck band was left on but turned down into the front band. We also put piping along the bands, front and hip. I have about 4 to make as gifts. Oh, and I embroidered a design on the upper right shoulder area. Good luck, you can do this!

have made many, love to do it. Mary Mulari has books and check Google. You can add all sorts of decorations etc to spiff it up.
