what's the difference between crocheted thread and perle cottons?

Our charity group always uses heavy crochet thread, doubled. I've never tried the pearle cotton.

when tying quilts, use a surgeons' knot, regardless of material....left over right, then right over left and over again, giving you two rounds on the second half of the knot....they never come undone...

I've never used Perle Cotton for tying quilts,but I have used bot crochet cotton and embroidery thread. They boh work just fine. I think the advantage to Perle Cotton is the color factor and the sheen.

I have used both and they both work fine, pearl cotton comes in different weights and is finer. I have also used pearl cotton for doing red work, I use the number 12 thread for that.

I use crochet thread number 3..... double it and go to work, it is wonderfully safe, knot do not come out,,,be sure to use surgical square knots........
