I had acrylic nails for several years but fought fungus off and on so.now I have silk wraps and tips much better for me. A little pricey but look natural and I do not wear colors only French manicure. Love the look and get lots of compliments as they do look real. I do not wear them long have them cut to natural look.

Never had the acrylic but in Dec had the shellac done and my nails still aren't back to normal. They split and chip and break several times a day !!! Yes they did last for 3 weeks and they were really pretty; but now I have very SHORT nails almost like I bite them(and I don't ). Wont' do the shellac again......

I also had acrylic nails but I recently changed to the new shellac. I really love it. They last about three weeks and my nails always look great. Much cheaper than acrylic.

be careful with the SHellac..it can cause permanent damage to your nail bed if you use for long periods!
I have a gel overlay on my own nails. I love them LONG and with work, sewing, gardening, the gel helps me keep them that way. Right now from cuticle to tip they are 1" long...and aside from too many typo's, they don't bother me!

My Dr. noticed I had acrylic nails and said get rid of them for every day wear. One of the checks she does is pinch my fingernails but the main reason was because of fungus she has seen turn nasty in other patients. She put me on Biotin and my nails grew and are strong. I don't need fake nails now.

I had them for about 3 years... it just got to be a hassle .. I would rather spend my time doing alot of other things than sitting having my "fill" done.
I took them off .... quite a process, and it took about 9 months for my nails to completely recover. During that time my nails were soft , peeled, and looked aweful.

sorta blurry, but you can see how long they are and the pretty art my stylist paints on them!

I have had them since 1991, when we went on a cruise! Now I have solar nail. Just go every 3 weeks and some time longer. Usually just do French tip! But, once in while color. Check out the nail salon carefully!
