    Years ago women used to sew a light weight bias strip of wool onto the back hoop to tighten it up some. I have seen many old ones like that.

    Try the Q Snap Hoops. They are lightweight and almost impossible to break unless you stomp on it.

    I've been using a lap hoop that is sold by the Thimblelady. I'm loving it! It has a special piece that you sit on, to hold it steady. Works great. I'm sure you can google Thimblelady and find her website.
