Could be done with the strip tube ruler too, just use different widths when making the strips

It does appears to be a string quilt to me as well. However, I think I would be really lazy and just cut the size of square I wanted to use, lay it out on point and add the narrow strip sashings with HST all around the edges, but then that's just me. I don't care for paper piecing.

It looks like she made a string block with various black and white fabrics. Then cut it in four triangles and mixed them up and put them back together. Then used green sashing (or put green around every other block and on the ends of the block in between) Don't know if this makes sense but sometimes I have difficulty expressing myself. Can do it but can't say it LOL. I think you could accomplish a similar look by just using a "busy" center fabric with sashing and place them on point.

I don't think it is a string quilt. I believe it is made from quarter square triangles and then sashed. Please take a closer look and see if I am correct. QST are less work intensive than foundation and strings.

Sorry, I took the closer look. I now believe it is strip pieced and then cut into triangles and then four triangles are stitched together. Yes, a lot of black and white prints. Do like the green sashing.
