Yes, I'd close the circles. Then, if you still need size, I'd suggest borders using the blue that "surrounds" the circles. I'm not much of a fan of white borders because of the possibility of soiling simply from being handled. I like the idea of the scrappy binding, using the colors in the blocks.

I agree with Bear - the circles at the left and top would look better "closed". Like others have said, you don't really need a border because the design completes itself. If you really need one to get to your size, perhaps a narrow stop border in your dark blue and then a wider film strip border using all of your fabrics?

You say you are adding another row of blocks on the right side and the bottom. What about adding the rows on the left side and the top to close the circles, then do a small border of your background fabric to make your center float? That will increase your top to the size you want; plus, your design will seem more complete.

You have a beautiful quilt top in progress. The design is great, and I really like the colors you've chosen.

Beautiful quilt. I think a piano key border would be nice. Possibly a narrow framing border and using all your fabrics to make the piano key border. Anxious to see what you decide. Please share with us when you finish.

3 ideas jump out at me. All include finishing the left side 'circle' and doing a white floating border. #1 is to add another 'circle' for width and length before floating border and a white binding. The second would be to add additional borders either a braid using all the colors and then another white thin border or a piano border within the 2 white narrow borders. The last is more traditional. I would use a white floating border and then 2 borders of the same width- inner would be the same as your center squares and the outer would be your favorite color from the block. Any darker color would work, a blue, green or brown would frame it out perfectly. I do not think it would be boring at all. Please post the finished product for us. I am excited to see what you choose to do.
