Virtual quilting weekend 8/30-9/2/24

Will be hand quilting Sat. Morning zoom, not sure if any machine stitching will get done. Oh yes, my hand working friend comes this afternoon for a couple hours as well. (Lately she has been knitting and ripping out again a toque trying to get the correct gauge, she is using heavier yarn than the pattern so keeps experimenting…🤪 ) Always enjoy checking in to see what everyone is working on, thanks!

I'll be anxious to join in now that my two Janome machines are out of the shop...each for different reasons. I was lucky in that my oldest Janome Harmony 8080 was still in the closet and sewed wonderfully during their absence. Not sure what I'll be working on as I had several different things going before taking them in. But I did pick up "Sparrows" by Pen and Paper Patterns today when I picked them up and think it would make a wonderful pillow top.

I am so excited. I have my three Scrappiness is Happiness blocks done and two more in progress. Oh, Yeah!!
The materials for the quilt sandwiches will be ready for tomorrow and in the car before I fall in to bed.
Now, just need to get some Boom Blocks kits ready. Humm which ones. Oh just close my eyes and choose. Right?

Sync, Love your blocks!!
Yesterday, I stitched several rows for the blue seahorse. It goes super fast because I just count the number of pieces needed for each row! For the background, I used fabric trimmed from wide backing of previous quilt, and scraps from the blue bucket!
After visiting Mom, I hope to finish the remaining rows. I think it will end up about the size of a panel, so I'm looking ahead to how to make it into a quilt. Suggestions wanted!
I also posted a pic of the Convergence Quilt piece made from a panel. This is as far as I got. Welcoming suggestions to finish this UFO.

Sync, I had so much fun making Easy Breezy blocks that I made them the next year too. I didn’t add sashings and still ended up with a queen size quilt. I fell in love with those small blocks and couldn’t stop at the end of the year! I do love the sashing on yours.

I didn’t work on the OBW project as planned but did finish a Community quilt. I picked up a bag from a thrift shop that had fabric and batting inside and the label read “2 Pieces”. Imagine my surprise when I opened the bag to find the cutest teddy bear appliquéd to a red fabric. The bear is about 15” tall, very well applqued and already sewn to the batting and backing. I added three more borders in a flip and sew method and added a machine binding. It’s now done and I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up my mess that I’ve been putting off until I couldn’t stand it any longer. I will spend today finishing the cleanup.

I just decided to join. I have a string quilt that I've been "quilting" on what seems like forever. A couple of days ago, I decided to put it away and come back later. As I sat here doing nothing productive, I remembered the VQW. So, I'm joining in and am planning to finish this quilt. It's my first string quilt, so it's a long way from perfect. I learned a lot, which is a good thing.
