Count me in! I am attending a quilt retreat with my Block of the Month project from six years ago ready to go! The light on my Featherweight burned out yesterday, but I have a spare so I am hoping to be able change it today. I have never had to change it, so I am getting a little anxious. I have watched a few online videos so I am going to give it a go!

well today is shopping day for myself and my sister so no sewing unless something delays us. If so, I have number of piles of blocks to stitch out making double HST for the Exploding Heart pattern. I worked on them yesterday and made a big mistake for the blocks in group D. Thought I would have to rip out all the stitches but found a way around it. I'm using various whites on whites for my background fabric in this pattern to use up small yardages. I've had the 1st stitchouts on all groups A thru E, sliced and pressed them. Marked the next step on all of them and have them ready to stitchout either tonight or tomorrow for sure. I want to be at the point of putting them up on the design wall to start arranging them. I used blues, reds and greens for my colors.
I wouldn't have even started this project except Iowa was in a blizzard the other day so I didn't want to turn my quilt machine on as my power was flickering. The winds were so strong that it pulled out the power wire right off the house and I had to have an electrician plus the power company come out to put it back safely. Now it's done but by the time they were finished, I felt it too late to start quilting my next quilt, Elizabeth Hartman's Dinosaur pattern. Still up in the air on how I'm going to quilt this bad boy but I will get started on it tomorrow also. Been on a roll with my quilting of late and don't want to stop now. I was able to finish a quilt I started quilting back in 2023 and finally finished it plus 2 more oversized lap quilts in the past 2 weeks.

I will give it the ol' college try. I am still working on my Maple Leaf quilt. I am doing the quilting now, cross hatched rows. I have half of one direction done. I also have a very hard symphony concert next week end, so will also need time to practice for that.

Ok, borders are on "Sunglasses Required". This was made from various textured scraps, some I'm pretty sure were 1970s, sort of a clothing weight bark cloth. Some are textured poly crepes. All of them frayed and shed extravagantly and even the textured polys slithered and tried to run run away... This quilt is destined to be used on our 3-season porch, which is still in progress. It isn't expected to last forever and will be used with dogs, and as a tent or picnic mat or whatever else comes up. We do have some nice patio furniture and a couple of weeks ago got the screens redone so will have screens this year, making it much more usable.
Picture is on our couch, the towel protected side is so the doggies can watch the world out the window. Our old house didn't have windows they could look out, they like it!

Gentle Hugs @aashley333
I had a write up for a NEW START, using the blocks provided by Cali & Co Mystery BOM. Fabrics are FQ bundle from Connecting Threads, selvedge date 2012. I must have had two bundles, I have 2 each of two focus (neon fruit) fabrics and a particular stripe. I pressed the 6. I think I'll reserve the stripe for binding. I do bias, and love a striped binding. I cut the 4 fruit completely up into 8-1/2, 4-1/2, 2-1/2 sq, 2-1/2 HST and 1-1/2 strips.

Aashley333– I am so sorry about your mother.
I see many of you have lots of goals for the weekend 🙂. I wish you great success. So far I have three panel tops assembled with bindings made as well. I’m in the middle of the fourth one. Will stitch together the pieces border tomorrow and attach. I sewed the binding for it but still need to press it. I had already unplugged my iron and the guild irons don’t press as well! I’m pulling the English paper piecing back out to work in while I watch a little tv.
will check back in tomorrow 😉

Ashley, I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I lost mine 24 years ago. In some ways it seems like yesterday and other days a million years ago. I still miss her every day. She died suddenly at age 67 and I’m thankful for all the wonderful and loving years we had together. Keep those precious memories alive.
As for quilting, I finished the project Imwas working on. I expected to need today to finish, but the Hubs was busy connecting with folks he met at the conference, giving me time to complete the quilting. I finished the binding last night. Now what can I get into for the rest of the weekend? Hmmmmm. Love seeing all the goodies everyone is working on.

I've got a sampler quilt on the frame to longarm: I think I'm about 55-60% done with that and have been working on it most of the week. I'm also piecing HST's for a blue and yellow Spring Fling: been collecting the fabrics for a couple years now and it's time to "git 'er done"!

Thanks all for the support in this time of grief.
I cut the 3 borders for the pixel quilt. Just as I began attaching them, literally 10 stitches, DH poked his head in and announced that he was heading into town, and I needed to get ready if I was going also. So I did. We call him "Clipboard Pat" because he creates a schedule which is fairly rigid!
I did manage to stich most of the borders in the afternoon. And the pencil erasers and pencil sharpener arrived from Amazon, which I needed to continue on my sketch for the giant applique. I finally found a YT that helped point me in the right direction to attempt such a large project. She used Heat n Bond to adhere pieces. Never appliqued that way-but I love a challenge!--Sketch is still too messy to take a pic. Still designing.
Keep busy this windy weekend!
