I work at my LQS ocasionaly an she said the cotton crop in china was realy bad this year so prices are going up and they probly whont come down ever just like gas. the crop in mexico did realy good this year so maybe the fabric producers should start bying more local like at least on this continent?

Well, but the shortage in China will increase the demand for Mexico's cotton, so the price will still go up.

If we all look hard enough we can find the sales. I went to Eleanor's Quilt shop in Paducah & don't normally buy a lot but she had a sale that was unbelievable. Think her sale is good thru the 16th if I remember right. But if you look hard enough you can find decent prices. I hate to have to 'boycott' but I feel the prices of fabric are like baseball players, if we keep paying them the prices will continue to go up.

I know I have cut way down buying. I am only buying what I need to finish up projects right now. I just can't afford to buy 3 or 4 yards for borders and backings and such at the prices now. Even on sale. I hate not being able to buy. I see so many pretty fabrics on sale even and sit and tell myself "Don't need any more fabric Don't need any more fabric" And delete the emails.

I haven't bought much since our Walmart got rid of fabric. I often look but can't seem to be willing to spend big bucks. I have just finished two quilt tops using scraps from my stash. I have started to cut one more scrappy. I picked up a few small pieces from Ebay. I would sure like some nice four yard pieces.

I haven't bought any since before Christmas, either. Everything I bought was online sales & none over $3.00 a yard. Thousands of bolts got most of my money, some went to Fabric.com, some to the Cotton Loft & some to Connecting Threads. Last July, I happened to get very lucky & be at Walmart during their close-out & I got alot then. And for all those with big stashes, I bought quite a bit but I will never catch up with you!!!LOL!!! I can't even think of buying any more until hubby finds a new job,so I'm especially glad I had the chance before. I also have been deleting emails without looking. Even when hubby had his great job & I was working, I wouldn''t buy above $4.44- our Wally 's highest price.

Since I shop at Fabric Depot exclusively while at home I can't say that I've noted much of a decrease. FD is always working on ways to give their customers some discount, and their 50% off section is always filled with great finds. Of course, their flier always has a 40% coupon for each week.
They really try to keep their customers and I can't speak enough about how great everyone is who works there.
