I sewed half the units today using the CG ruler and took time to trim the points according to the ruler. I could trim several at one time and it really went fast. These units sewed together so easy with no problems. Trimming unit was just as easy as they are slightly oversized. I hope to finish them tomorrow.
Thanks Petthefabric for an alternative way to make these units.

I'm enjoying prepping my paper piecing for clue 4. My plan is to get all the grunt work (the cutting of fabric and paper patterns and folding along the diagonal) before I put the clue away. I made one unit, and they really are delicate and lovely. I decided to use my tiny print gray until it lasts, hoping there will be enough for this clue.

I didn't do much at all yesterday but watched the snow fall and tv with the hubby. We are almost caught up on the week's worth of shows we missed while I was gone.
I have started Clue 3, and have almost all of my neutral squares cut out, but it is cold downstairs and I came up for some socks and hot tea.
As is my usual hope, I would like to be done with Clue 3 by Tuesday and my sewing group. I'll still be behind on Clue 4 when Friday rolls around but so it goes -- I knew I would need catch up.

Ooof! I'm rolling back my progress schedule a bit. Goal is to finish cutting Clue 3 today, I have my neutral (black) cut (plus a few extra sets since I am going larger than designed), I am cutting my pink (white on white), and as I'm getting those cut I put them together with the neutrals. I will still have to cut purple (gray), but the pinks will already be cut.
I lost a contact while on my trip, first one in 10+ years of specialty lenses I wasn't able to find. Good news is I have a backup. They are considered medically necessary so I get a new pair each year but they are specially made for me and take about 2 weeks. So today I'm about to leave the house for my chiropractor appt and then again at the end of day to the eye doctor.

I finished cutting my clue 4 fabrics yesterday. My small print gray on white lasted for about a third of the clue, I used the darker gray for the rest. I will now work on finishing the cutting and folding of the paper patterns.
Glad you had a back-up contact lens, Iceblossom!

Contact loss was a bit of a panic attack but I made it through the trip, and in the "it could be worse" if I was 2 inches shorter when the gate smacked my face it would have taken out my good eye instead of getting my cheek. I've lived a lot of my life with the "it could be worse" comparison...
Got so much done today even though not as much as I hoped. I am done cutting clue 3, and did a load of laundry including some lovely gray (my purple) batiks from Barb. I have always been a believer in pre-washing but now I do it as a stash reduction device -- it really makes me pause buying or even bringing home fabrics when I have the rule that it must be washed as soon as it comes home.
Musically we are almost out of the E's. I was born in 1960 and am basically "That 70s Show" generation and right between the ages of Weird Al and Art Alexakis (the singer in the video). I have nothing in common with the early baby-boomers, only that I came out before birth control was readily available. I grew up wanting the teach the world to sing, and to smile at my brothers and come together right now... I watched Bandstand and listened to Casey Kasem and American Top 40...

There isn't any place that I need to go
There isn't anything that I need to know I did not learn from the radio

Iceblossom, I've been very inspired by your stash reduction strategy. I've been working on folding my washed fabrics, and then I'll begin washing my piles of unwashed fabrics and institute a 'wash immediately' policy. I'm also going to re-create my 'Fabrics I Wanted' folder, so that when I look at what's new in fabric, I have a place to put the things I like other than a shopping cart!

Yay me, I'm still behind but hopefully will be close to caught up by Friday...
Yesterday I got all my finished Clue 3 sets pressed, that was the large and middle sizes. I still have the smallest set to go, I forgot to take my pins with me to sewing group, but I finished sewing them this morning, have about half pressed. Still need to trim all units, I think that is doable today.
Am also planning on doing a test block of the half-rec blocks today and then starting on them tomorrow.
We are into the F's on the stereo but I think I will be switching to the Christmas music section after John Fogerty... In general, I'm not big on men whose singing voices are higher than mine, but I have a couple of exceptions, like Aaron Neville and John Ondrasik, the man behind Five for Fighting. I met my husband on-line playing a computer game-- back in the dot-com crash I had a better than average computer, a home internet connection (still rare, even for AOL users), and a lot of free time when I and 60k other wonderful people lost our jobs. Anyway, first we met and randomly played together for a year, then we spent a year talking on the phone an hour a day (and had to change our long-distance calling packages, remember those??). And then with only two face to face meetings, he rented a van, and brought his cat, a snake, and two bearded dragons and moved from Grand Rapids, MI to Seattle, WA. LOL we still have the snake now in Peoria! I bought him 3 CDs for when he was out of radio range, Five for Fighting/America Town, Common Threads/Tribute to the Eagles (various artists) and Lucinda Williams/Car Wheels on a Gravel Road.
Anyway, here's a deeper track from America Town, Easy Tonight instead of the big hit Superman (It's not easy)

Progress shot -- still lots of trimming to do. But my work is holding up to trimming, and I've set up tape lines on rulers which I am so far able to keep one per size or clue!
This monochrome color change plays with my fragile little mind... here is a sample of my blocks placed as Bonnie has them in the clue... the really confusing color change is that my white/neutral is black but my pink is white on white... the purple to gray isn't a big leap. I also have a large print (48 point!) list on my wall, and each clue has a large handwritten note on sizes, cutting directions and color translations!
I am making a few extra sets each clue and am just about out of my little clips, I think I have just about enough for Clue 4, and after that we have to start putting stuff together, don't we?? And I'm betting we have some blue (black and white for me) on Friday too. Anyway I ordered a new box of 100 clips. Had to take a lengthy time out yesterday because not only did the bobbin run out, but all the bobbins were out. I typically use blending light gray/blue and beige threads. With scrap quilting I can't match and I use a tiny stitch and it really doesn't matter what I use, so I wound 3 bobbins with what was left on a cone of light variegated green.
