If you have a serger, or have a friend who has a serger make them some beautiful silk neck scarves. You can get 3 scarves from 2 yards of fabric cut lengthwise. Hem the edge with a small rolled edge stitch. It will take about 1 hour to make all three if you are go slow. It will take longer to go buy the fabric.

2nd idea. Buy gloves and some fur which is sold buy the yard in the ribbon section at Hancock's. Trim them . Or buy jeweled trim or pearls by the yard and trim the gloves. Everyone usually likes some special bling.

3rd idea Cut appliques from beautiful fabricl or lace and apply to towels. Or apply bands of fabric or lace to towels or even readymade pillowcases.

I made rice bags one year. They are great because they can be use as a heat pad or ice pack. Since they are soft they can be positioned for difficult places like elbows. All you do is cut a square, ( I made mine about 8 or 9 inches) sew the sides leaving one side with an opening big enough to fill the bag with rice. Turn it right side out, fill it, then sew the opening shut. I also put a note with it explaining to heat it in the microwave for about two minutes or to put it in a plastic bag and freeze it for the ice pack. You can also use beans or dried corn instead of rice. I have seen some made long like a snake for the neck. People that I gave the gift to say that they still use theirs after so many years and I know I still use the one I made for myself. If you have time you can also make a pillowcase. I did that for my grandkids because I knew theirs would get dirty and of course you can't wash the bag with the filling in it. Believe it or not my daughter tried to and it didn't turn out too well. LOL

someone on this board in the picture section had some pics of quick tablerunners that looked like they would be cute and really no brainers....I, myself, am going to make two this afternoon.....I don't know how you would search for them, maybe someone else here is wiser than I, but if you can find it, think about it. I will try to describe: 5-6x10 rects sashed with 1 1/2", border of 3" then bound with the backing fab wrapped around to top............and then just sid.....(stitched in ditch)

At this point I think I'd opt for visiting the notions department at JoAnn's/LQS/etc and make up little goodie bags for the ladies. Put your finds in a small gift bag using a pretty FQ instead of tissue. Top with a pretty sparkly bow and call it done!
