I have a 3-piece set of the Kai 700 series. They are advertised as the best scissors on earth. I don't use them very much as I don't keep them lying around like the other scissors, or in the scissor basket. They are in my mind too good to use? I don't know why I hesitate to use them more.

We bought a pair if Gingher shears at a going out of business sale when my wife first got the idea she’d like to start quilting. We didn’t know anything about scissors but they seemed to be high quality and they are. Still as sharp as they were when we opened the package. I also bought a pair of their thread snippers and I love them. I don’t know about their quality now that Fiskars owns them.

I'm sorry to hear that Fiscars is now making Ginghers.
Ginghers are not all the same... quality depends on where they were made. I have bought about 6 pairs over the years, and my favorite and still sharpest were made in Italy. Others from countries like Brazil, not so much. I learned to check the country, stamped on the blade.

I have a pair of Ginghers duck bill scissors made in Italy. When I was learning hand applique I bought them. I haven't used them since I learned I don't like hand applique. LOL. Does anyone use the duck bill scissors for other than applique?

I use mine quite a bit when I'm doing garments. They're great for grading seams. I seem to find quite a few uses for them.
