I have made my first quilt for kids. I told the lady at the quilt store the kind of batting I wanted, but I'm afraid it's too 'fat'. Should I send it anyway? I will be sure to get some lower loft for the next one I'm doing. Also, I noticed they ask you to wash the quilts with a 'color catcher'. Where can you buy that?

You should be able to find the "color catchers" at most stores that carry laundry detergent. I buy mine at the Navy commissary but have seen them is most of the grocery stores. Walmart will probably have it too.

I received 2 more kits this week. I started one of them tonight and one of the WOF strips is missing. poo. There wasn't enough selvage to identify it either. Has anyone else had this happen? I have lots of material but it won't match. Maybe a small child won't notice!

I got one kit that was missing one of the big squares. I ended up making 4 patches out of scraps left over from the 4 patches I made from the kit so the bottom row on one of the quilts has all 4 patch blocks instead of 4 patch/big square staggered across the row....does that make sense? I'm sure whatever you choose to do to finish your quilt will be fine. I like the idea of using 2 sashings of one fabric and the other 2 sides with different sashings.
