Another insomnia quilting session -- just about to go back to bed/audio book time.

I got my neutrals for Clue 7 cut. I went back to my box of small pieces and found another bit of a fabric that I thought I had already used up, but was just enough for 2 sets, and then found another piece that had been entirely missed previously but was enough for another 2 sets. Isn't otherwise used in the project but is similar enough in scale, plus being basically black helps. Call it "atomic dandelions" at first glance it looks pretty equal to the Snowflake print already used up.

I've prepped my "Blue" fabrics, for me the color is Black & White, or more exactly white background with some (up to 50/50) black print. Had to re-iron. Not sure on how many sets I'll need to cut but I have the fabric ready. Again, starting with the smaller pieces and using them up when/if I can. Also from Barb/my trip to Arizona and I have a wonderful piece of Kaffe Fassett piece to work in -- that was my first cutting for this step. Next was using up a small piece, and now it's break time.

Part of my goals for these Bonnie Projects is to use up small scraps. Some of these pieces I've carried for years and are now done/gone and it's a good thing!

Hope you all are having good times, at your sewing and in your regular days.

PS: CDs are up to G, has been a strange mixture of Gipsy Kings, David Gray (White Ladder, one of my most favorite albums of all time), and I think I'm just about through Green Day and feeling like guitars being used as weapons but it was nice to take a walk again down the Boulevard of Broken Dreams...Don't know what is next and that is part of the fun.

I cut my blues and my neutral strips yesterday; I'll cut the rectangles today, and then will go on to cut the squares for clue 5. I decided I would just cut squares from all of my purples, and use which ones look best. I bought some white paper grunge for the clue 5 centers, because I wanted the centers to go with my other grays, but I didn't like the grays themselves for block centers. I noticed Bonnie ended the clue with, 'that's it for this week,' so I guess that precludes any surprise clues this week.

It's nice and sunny here today. Our darling dog Emma is having a liver crisis and is at the vet's today getting fluids. Hubby is a rock solid guy until one of the dogs dies, and then he tends to fall apart. They'll do an ultrasound next week, hopefully it is something treatable.

Yesterday turned out to be busier than I expected and I wasn't able to do as much sewing as I wanted.

I did get my "Blue" cut. That might be the last of them in the project. I guess it's because of using the squares to make the triangles but I cut a lot more fabric than I expected. Some of my pieces I thought were pretty reasonably large small sized (some of you get that!) but turned out to be barely enough for one set of units. I had enough different fabrics that once I used up the smallest pieces, I only needed two from each of the remaining fabrics. In addition to the fabric from Barb, I also added in a couple more pieces that weren't used in the previous step. LOL and I'm still trying to get the correct pronunciation of Kaffe Fassett in my head and get all the wrong ones out... one of these days maybe I'll get it right

Again, part of my goals for the Bonnie Project each year is to use up some small bits -- I did quite a lot of that this step.

I think I have a pretty good idea but I am so looking forward to the reveal! I've made some extra pieces all along to make this a larger project. I think I made a good guess on my count... either pretty much right on or maybe 1 set not enough.

@joe'smom -- hugs all around for you, hubby, and Emma. Is so hard to see our fur partners in distress

My husband is such a softie, is part of what I love about him. His Mom died mid-December last year, she was a big believer in doggie treats and trained her dog to do many tricks. When we were helping to clean out her house, we took the dog treats which were far too many, too big, and inappropriate for our dogs. The hubby's new job out here he deals a lot with truckers, both local and long haul and has found there are many truck dogs out there, so started handing out doggy treats. Took a bit to get through what we got from his Mom's but he is carrying on the tradition, both in her honor and heck, he just likes the dogs.

Iceblossom, that's so sweet about your husband and the dog treats! It will do my husband good to get out of the house this morning, to church and away from his two needy girls.

I'm never smart enough to figure the mysteries out ahead of time, and am also so looking forward to the reveal. I had a good day of cutting yesterday. I have my neutral rectangles cut for clue 7; I'm not sure I'm going to like this gray print with my blues, but the only other option remaining was the darker gray, and I thought that would be too close in value to the blues. All that's left for me to cut is some extra pinks for the small and large HSTs of clue 3. I arbitrarily decided to use darks for the small and lights for the large, and I just want to cut a few lighter ones for the small and darker ones for the large, so I have more options.

Okay, Iceblossom...how in the heck DO you pronounce his name? I've been down the Cafe Facet (like a coffee shop/diamond cut road), the Kafe (like Kayf) Faucet road...LOL. I just know that I adore his fabrics and wish I had more in my stash.

Had to draw out clue 7 on graph paper to see the actual block. Thinking of paper piecing them since I have trouble seeing the block corners.

Maybe one more clue before the reveal???

I think it was the Wikipedia article that repeated it sounds like Safe Asset. Since I read espionage books I might remember that... and that it has nothing to do with coffee in any form

I saw him explain the pronunciation in an article once: Kaffe sounds like 'safe' and Fassett like asset. Safe asset.

So basically one from column A and one from column B:
