Joes mom: praying for your family
Got 13/24 rectangles pieced. Thought I had the rest of neutral rectangle cut but can't find them. Tomorrow is student day, so cleaned up space for them. Tuesday I'll resume
I started with more fabric than called for so I could make it larger. Then made it the same size to be sure I had enough (not scrappy). So I have no idea if I've used the allotted material.
Question: for those making just 4 fabrics (not scrappy) how much do you have left over of each fabric?

Hooray for progress, petthefabric. Gentle reminder that even though we are almost to reveal, Bonnie asks that we don't use counts in our posts. I've been doing this for several years now and still want to use counts... I want to take pictures showing my carefully counted sets... Would love to show more measurements... LOL, I am physically restraining myself (by stacking my parts in my aluminum pans) from playing with my unit/clues and figuring out layouts. Spoilers on the reveal are greatly frowned upon! But visions of interconnecting stars dance in my head
Since I am using up scraps and started out with way too much of my Purple (gray), I'm also a bit in the dark over the remaining yardage. Plus I've been making extra sets so that throws me off. I think there was a least one person who was going to be using one yardage each, or maybe somebody who bought fabric specifically for this project can weigh in.
My feeling is that if we are doing any more cutting of any of the fabrics it is minimal. Maybe corner squares or a couple of units to fill in the design.
Looking forward to Friday!

I'm using 4 fabrics. I'd say my purple is nearly gone. PInks are getting close. Lots of ice blue and neutrals left. I had more than enough of my neutral so not sure how much is used but I think over half.

Hooray for Tuesday! My sewing group is meeting again but I am officially caught up on Clue 7.
I know my seams were a bit scant and while I shouldn't need to, I am going to look at my Clue 6 blocks to see if any slivers need to be trimmed off. Maybe I can figure out why some of my rectangle points are so awful... the rectangles at least are the correct size even if some of my points are way short. If I were to do over/was more concerned with exactness, this is the sort of thing I will do with paper piecing.
Then I'll have a couple hours to find something to put together to do at group... maybe I will work on my permanent block labels -- I label my blocks Alpha across and Numbers down with markers, I started making a permanent set using beads and safety pins and am about 1/2 done with them, this is a project where I really have to be low on options to work on!
My newish main sewing machine is still just a year old and I'm still getting used to it. I was having an issue where although my stitches were still good, the thread jumped out of the guide by the needle. I had to do a bobbin filling and cleaning and got out my manual to do a careful re-threading -- and I did find a problem (I wasn't correctly in the tension disc), it hasn't happened again since the re-do. I'm also finding that even if the needle is fairly new, when my thread starts breaking annoyingly often, it is worth changing the needle like on the 2nd or 3rd time it happens in one sewing session. Think I'm on my fourth one for this project, maybe getting about 6 hours of use? Still cheap compared to the aggravation of having to constantly re-thread, even with the assist with my vision it is just not fun or easy.

Well I went over my Clue 6 blocks at group on Tuesday and I still don't know why some of my rectangles are so off. I did each set at a time, set up my sets in assembly line, and most were pretty ok. I did indeed just have bare slivers/no real need to go back and trim them, sizing is good (the rectangles are the correct finish size), it is the points, some are like 1/2" short, sometimes just one in the set. I think in the overall scale and complexity of the design it won't be horrible.
Looking forward to Friday -- whether one more Clue or reveal, I am caught up and ready to go!
I did do a couple of my row marker beading things at group. Almost done!

Hi everyone! Happy Part 8 Eve! I'm still working on Part 7 with just some trimming to do to the triangle pieces that are cut-offs. I was happy to find that I had an Accuquilt die to use for this step. The piece fits very nicely and only one triangle piece instead of 2 need to be trimmed off. I didn't realize until after I had already sewn then pressed the corner triangles that the overall size of the unit is a bit off on some because of my seam allowance. Ah well-it's not enough for me to be concerned with and I'm just going with it. Pictured is the unit with the Accuquilt cut piece sewn on and then after its flipped up into place. I'll save the clipped off triangles. They work well with smaller paper pieced pineapple blocks. Or maybe they'll work for Bonnie's Wild and Goosey that's on my to-do list, someday. Most of the time I would have sewn another seam allowance to get a new HST...yes, I do that even for these smaller pieces, crazy me!! Tonight is Quilt Guild, then I'll work on the trimming when I get home.
Will there be a reveal tomorrow?? Bonnie said this years mystery will be concluded sometime in January, and there are three Fridays remaining. I've seen some FB posts using prior finished clues to speculate what design the quilt will be. I'd rather not do that myself- just going along and waiting for the big Surprise on Reveal Day.

I'm so excited for tomorrow, hoping it is the reveal. But I'd be happy with another clue to cut, as well. I'm working on my longest seam for Indigo Way, so I feel as though it is downhill from here (though I'll have to sew that longest seam again as the final one). I am very eager to trim this and start working on adding borders!
It turns out our dog, Emma, has a bad case of hepatitis. She is home now after a couple days in the hospital for fluids and intravenous drugs. We're watching closely, trying to discern between lethargy and normal fatigue after her ordeal.

And here we go -- Reveal!
https://quiltville.com/pdf/Lupineandlaughter_Pt8.pdf
And there's that simple blue I was thinking we'd have...
And Joe'smom, wow 2 Bonnie Hunters at the same time and a sick dog (plus distraught Husband). What a handful!

Just looked at the reveal post from BH. What a lovely quilt. Now, where in this calendar year can I squeeze in a new quilt and what If I want to make it a little larger. Yah, yah, just make more blocks, I know. It is just all about finding the time and to maintain motivation to get this lovely off of directions and on to my bed. This will be my quilt to give me a sweet pastel cover for my bed. Yes, I said pastel. I plan on going the same color way but bringing it down to soft versions of each color. Time will tell as well my quilting budget. I suspect this will be a L-O-N-G term project for me.
