Thanks for this discussion. I was confused too, but I am easily confused. Am out of address labels so I've ordered a rubber stamp and have some stick on tags. I guess there is time for me to make another set, Lord knows I've got the fabric.

To all: Happy Thanksgiving, am also thankful for my Quilting Board family. What a joy you all are for me. Please pass the cranberry sauce.

My bruises are healing up...turning green....bloody places have nicely dried. I fell backwards onto a big loom with a 60 pound box of flower bulbs on top of me, pinning me down. Managed to grab the lawn mower and pull myself out of the situation. It wasn't the low blood pressure, I just have too much stuff in there and got my feet tangled up.

Marcia, I'm so sorry! How painful and scary. Hope you're better soon.

Armylady, is the bottom line that you're mixing up the blocks at random to each swapper? Should we make our names permanent on each block (stitched or written with micron pen, maybe)?

I know a lot of people use there sticky mailing labels. I use the small narrow post it notes. Whatever I can get at the dollar store. I mark them with my board name and sew them down on my machine. I have also seen some people mark the back of there quilt blocks with the micron pens.

Do whatever is easiest for you.

Anyone else want to chime in on the best way to mark the blocks?

I would prefer that our names not be permanently written on the blocks. In our first swap, we put our names on stickers or a piece of paper basted to the corner of the blocks. But, this decision will be entirely up our hostess.

I really like this idea, as I wouldn't want to put my name on permanently and don't particularly want others' names on permanently, either. For one thing, I don't know what I will ultimately be doing with blocks (one quilt, a couple runners, who knows?) and for another, in real life we don't know each other (most of us) so there's not a strong sentimental attachment like there would be in a real life circle of friends.

Simple basting a name to a block sounds like a good solution.

Do the sticky labels not adhere well, or come loose?

Basting as opposed to pining a piece of paper on the block?
