I’m still chugging along here! I just finished the split rectangles and I can highly recommend the Deb Tucker ruler; using it, the blocks come out a little bit oversized and then you used the template on the ruler to trim them perfectly. Once I got the hang of it, wrapping my brain around the directions and all, it was super easy!

And I’ve started with the step where you start assembling the blocks with the hourglass blocks. All that crazy squaring up of even these tiny units has really paid off. They’re looking fantastic and needing only slivers trimmed to square up, if that.

Pretty blocks and colors, Quossum. Thank you for the recommendation of the Deb Tucker ruler. I do like this quilt pattern but have no time so it will be added to my bucket list.

Everyones blocks look great. Still plugging along here. Might have gotten some more done today if my new Janome didn't start breaking thread. 3 new needles, changing of 2 thread spools and 2 different bobbins later, it seems that she had decided that Aurifil thread is not to her liking. So far, the spool of Superior Bottom Line is working - I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Quossom -- love those rich colors! Looking forward to seeing them put together.

Sync -- sorry to hear about your machine problems. I am still getting to know my new Juki and I went through a stage about a month ago where things were pretty rough, thread breaking all the time. My stitches were still good but it was also slipping out of the guide down by the needle. I replaced needles, I did various things and then I just pulled out my manual (again!) and re-threaded from the beginning. The thread wasn't in the tension disks correctly (you have to have the foot either up or down while threading). This last week or so has been lovely with no issues and no thread breaking.

I made a little progress on the Alternate blocks yesterday. Today I hope to do some more but it is once again bowling date day with the hubby.

On Tuesday instead of going to sewing, I should be at home and my solar panel installation should finally be finished. Had some issues with a sketchy contractor, short form is they began installation without my actual panels in stock... but with tariffs and things there are problems now getting the panels. They tell me they have figured it out but I've been scheduled with a no-show before (more than once).

Iceblossum - so far the Janome is liking the Bottom Line thread, no thread breakage the whole time I was sewing today. I'm sure my LQS carries Bottom Line, along with Sew Fine. Might just have to visit tomorrow to pick up a spool or two. Sorry about all your solar installation problems. Hopefully, it will be taken care of soon.

Here's some pictures showing some of my progress.

    Sync -- love those colors!

Since I bought a huge lot of cones at an auction, I've been using So Fine, both top and bottom. I'm thinking that whatever was part of being wrong in my threaded with the tension discs was also part of what was making the thread break repeatedly, hasn't happened before and hasn't happened since I did the full rethread.

Yikes! It is cold outside and the wind is blowing strong. It will be nice to be inside today and get some more blocks done, didn't do very much at all. Last night (usually I sew in the mornings), I went to do some sewing and for the first time in the project, sewed the wrong units to the wrong base. Immediately stopped and took out the stitches and left it alone for the rest of the night.

Here's a horrible picture that sort of captures what I'm seeing as I walk by the project. I mentioned before about the diagonal movement, I think maybe this shows that?? As I walk down the hall, I mostly see the diagonal directions.

Wow! DebLuvsQuitng indeed!! Look at that, all done down to the edges. I really like how your purple squares form rings around your stars. Your fabric choices make a very nice cohesive overall pattern -- where I feel mine is still two blocks.
