I like a half inch binding, so I cut one inch strips. I sewed them to all four sides and then sewed all four sides to back, turned and quilted. See them here [url]http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-100610-1.htm[url] It is faux binding and it is my go to technique now for small projects.

Several of you mentioned buying the mugs and coasters. I purchased them at Pier 1 in Houston. I do not know if this is a national chain or not. I, too, looked high and low for dotted mugs. The coasters were an impulse buy.
