This whole thing confuses me. I never know what I'll get when I go to the post office. I found out the postmistress, in our rural PO, is a quilter!! She's much easier to deal with now. lol

I thought we had this all settled a month ago. THere was a very nice lady on the QB who said, any complaints, let her know, her postmaster was committed to making sure everyone got the rules right. Don't remember her name but her avatar is her pic and she is a very nice looking lady.

Rules need to be in place. It's good common sense to not overstuff so that the package we are shipping doesn't end up torn.
I agree with both comments. I don't mind following the rules regarding rates and packaging.

This week I received a jelly roll packed into one of those mailers. I was surprised to see that it went for $4.95. Although the contents were intact I could see the possibility for damage.

That was me, and I did forward the complaints to the appropriate people. They assured me that it would be taken care of. I have not heard, however, if there were continuing complaints. Oh - thanks for the compliments - Preference by Loreal #6G.

Sooo -- why don't you cram the fabrics in a flat rate box???

A small flat rate box costs $5.20 to mail
A med. flat rate box costs $10.95 to mail
A large flat rate box costs $14.95 to mail

I just sent a 87x87 quilted quilt with 2 magazines and extra fabric for $14.95

Seems to me you all have trouble with the envelopes and it is just as easy to send the stuff in a box.

While the small box definitely has its uses, sending 5 yards of fabric is not one of them (as mentioned upthread).

The small flat rate box is almost useless. While the medium & large size boxes are nice, they're also lots more money. The flat rate envelope has always been the way to go. That being said, I have ordered the new padded flat rate envelopes and have used them twice. Works very well.
