I tried my first one last week and it worked. Caught all the red in a table runner that has three solid red squares. The brand is Shout color catcher and is on the laundry aisle at WalMart, near dryer sheets. froggyintexas

Welcome! I've learned to wash my fabrics after I had a run in (pun intended!) with reds and blacks. Before the dye magnets were available, I used vinegar with cold water to set the colors and didn't have any trouble. The problem I found with the sheets, are fabrics that continue to bleed after the first wash, espcially if hot water gets used. Once you've given the quilt to someone, you don't know how they'll wash the item. Ergo, I make sure that fabric won't bleed before I send it off.

So do you think I should 'set' the color first by washing with vinegar in cold water and then perhaps rewashing with the color catchers? Most everyone has agreed they've had great luck with them but I sure would hate to ruin my new grandson's quilt! And so many nice people on here from all over the world. I'm impressed. Nice to meet you all from the show me state of Missouri
