Yes, I was in 4-H for 10 years. That and church were my social life b ack then when the closest neighbor was a mile away. Kids then didn't have all the extra curricular things to do. I sewed, baked, canned, and made lamps. I even won a trip to Washington, New York, and Pittsburgh for my achievement in the Electric project. Many of the things I do now were learned back then. I can wire a lamp without going to the shop to get it done. I can for many of my mom's friends. While she was living, she would tell them what I did, and they asked her if I would do it for them. Now I have a big group of them wanting canned green beans, tomatoes, pickles and relish. I don't know how many more years I can do it. My daughter and granddaughter were in 4-H and I am a leader for foods now. It is a very good program, but sadly not many participate any more. Too many other things to get their attention.

Wanted to add that my hubby was still involved in 4-H while in college - Ohio State University. It a social/service club. Many of his college 4-H friends attended our wedding.

Currently a 4-H Program assistant and volunteer Leader for the past 20 years. I Bleed Green. Rock Eagle is a second home, and the students we hosted through FLEX are the best family we could ask for. 4-H does it all, air science to zoology and everything in between. I'm the jack of all person in our county. The agent just shrugs when she introduces me, and says, ". . . and Miss Carol does it all." I do, because the kids have so much to learn, and I from them.

We're FINALLY, getting a new 4-H center, and I am so excited. I can get all of the "stuff" out of my house and reclaim my space. Cooking, crafts, sewing, decorations, books, props, posters, you name it, I've been the 4-H annex and storage facility. (I'll miss the kids hanging out though.)

I was a 4-Her from age 12-18. Went to Washington DC with a group when I was 17, a wonderful experience.

I was never a 4-Her (lived in a very large city, no 4H). But I directed the 4-H program for a county in MN for 10 years. My kids were in 4-H and they are now 32 and 42 and have noting but praise for their 4-H experience. They really feel it helped them in many ways and one of the reasons they have successful careers now.

I was in 4-H from 10-18. Cooking, sewing, forestry, showed cattle & sheep. Went to 4-H conferences, many memories. Think I still have my 4-H pin someplace. Great experience.

I am a former 4-H leader, does that count. We had a dog group in MA and did many demonstrations at the mall and local agricultural school. Some of the kids had dogs they could not control but with training, they all ended up with well behaved pets.

Yep, I was in 4-H from 9-19 and very active both locally and nation wide. I was the county Federation president my senior year in high school and the local club president for many years. I went to Congress in Washington, D.C. when I was 17. Also showed at the state fair from 13-19 years old in different areas. Modeling, photography, food demonstration, and public speaking. 4-H molded much of what I am today. (that and a persistent nagging mother) I wanted my girls to get involved, but since we live in suburbia, it wasn't as cool as Girl Scouts, so they never showed any interest.
