Has anyone tried the bias method of making hst Here is one link to a tutorial although there are others. The secret is to starch the heck out of your fabric before you start. I have done this and made perfect hst. It is especially good for very small hsts. One thing I love about it , is you press your seams after you sew each strip together. When you cut them apart, you are done. I like pressing the seams open, it makes them lay flatter.

I never try a scant 1/4 in seam. I have never figured out how you can maintain the scant. Even if the instructions say scant I never do a scant. I have found if I go ahead and use the 1/4 in seam throughout the quilt, it all comes out great.

Your quilt is gorgeous. Thanks for posting the picture, it has given me an idea for some blocks I have. Why do you refer to them as "blankety blank HSTs?" Just curious.

Love this block because it can be made with only HSTs.
    Thanks for sharing, Kutnso

LOL! Because they hate me! I try not to cuss, but HST's bring out some of my best "quilting words." ;)

Illog, Thanks for the "up close" picture, since it is just ht, I can do that. It looked so complecated in the other pictures. Thanks again.
