My machine attacked me last week. It was jealous that I pulled out another machine for the quilting. I still carry the hole in my fingernail... looks quite interesting. It will be a challenge when I get my nails done for my son's wedding.--- but it's a couple of months away, so probably grown out by then!

you are not alone....I recently stitched right through my acrylic fingernail. No injury, just a quick repair with some Crazy Glue!

I hate to admit it but yes, it has happened to me, with the longarm. It went through the nail and part of the finger, not too bad considering what could have happened. From now on let's all be more careful!

Irishrose - I can't believe you were more concerned about the silk organza than about the needle in your bone! You're one dedicated quilter!

Not stupid, these things happen because our fingers can get in there in the first place. Not like a saw which has a guard to prevent accidents. I hear your pain and I am going right over to look at my Janome to see if I can make it safer for me, as I am a major clutz and my mind wanders when sewing.
Hope you heal quickly! You are brave!!

Oh my, I hope its okay now. That is my worst fear to be so deep in thought while I am sewing that I sew my finger.

Owwie. I hope it heals fast.

No stitches taken, but I've done this twice! Guess you were just in the 'zone'!

My friend did that using a treadle machine. She really could make that "Singer" sing. She can laugh about it now.
