I spray stubborn creases with water, either from my iron spray button or the spray bottle I keep next to it, and use steam. Always works for me :)

I have a seamstress II iron from years ago, it takes creases out of any fabric. I don't know if you can still get them or not. It is just a steam iron with a small area for steam to come out on the point of the iron. It does a great job. You may be able to use just a fabric steamer

The fibers need to be uncompressed. The fold in purchased fabric are mechanically folded with high heat and pressure. The fold compresses the natural fiber. One way is to soak the fabic in water , the longer its been folded the longer it should soak. Iron silightly moist. It is always a concern when buying true vintage ... the fold may never be completely removed.
Think about it like paper (made from natural fibers) can you ever really get a fold out? If you rehydrate the fiber and press you can . FYI some fibers if folded do get a permanent crease.
Remember to refold your quilts ever few months.

I would not make a bummer that could not be washed for a child's crib. With all the stuff that can get on it, it really needs to be able to be washed. Either using starch or vinegar you should launder both out.

Mary Ellen's Best Spray. . . yes it is a spray and I get mine at Hancock Fabrics and quilt shops I can't remember if I've ever seen it at Joann's. It makes your fabric so nice and smooth without making it super stiff and flakey! I love it! I use it for ironing everything, not just quilting stuff!
