Thanks for the memories. Years ago we didn't call it recycling or thrifting, we called it "home-made" crafting. What is old is new, again.

I remember those as well, making them out of magazines and spray painting them.

I did a search on Google, but I could not find instructions for this type of tree. Please post where you found them.

    I found this on about.com: http://familycrafts.about.com/cs/chr...blrdchtree.htm and the Reader's Digest website: http://www.rd.com/home/craft-a-chris...gest-magazine/.

    Merry Christmas!

    OH MY GOD!!!
We made lots of these as kids,we used readers diegest
We'd paint them & decorate them
One we painted red- used a foam ball on top for santa head and put blk belt around the bottom
You could probably make one into a snow man

Does that ever bring back memories

My mom used Readers Digest to make Mr and Mrs Santa's. I still have them and put them out every christmas. They are some of my favorite Christmas ornaments.

I folded page after page of a book/magazine when I was down sick. Found it the other day and could not remember how to make it look so needless to say I didn't open it and just threw it away. Guess my heart is just not into things lately since my DH had open heart surgery and I have been in and out of the hospital so much the last few months. I hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas.
