And did the "shoe" lock up your keyboard when you whacked the spider????I don't like spiders, but I also don't kill them--it's bad luck to kill a spider. I do like one of the other ladies said, capture them somehow and wait for hubby to come home and throw get rid of it outdoors.....

I used to teach spiders in October in my classroom...and the students loved the unit. I had this spider in my yard one year and watched it grow from a baby to full grown. The zigzag on the web became smaller and thinner, the older the spider got. One day I blew a bug into its web, and was amazed at how fast it pounced on it and wrapped it up in silk...about two seconds! Finally it made a huge egg sac that was the size of a ping pong ball. It was a brown color and looked like an upside down balloon. It was on the siding of our house and was there for awhile. Then one day i noticed that it had deflated...all the babies were gone.

These are amazing spiders! I do know that there were fewer bugs in my garden where this spider lived. Thanks for all the info ......

This is exactly what I'd do and be screaming all the way. I thought the picture was showing the beginning of a Halloween decoration until I read some of the comments. Gives me the chills.

Thank you for sharing. I don't mind spiders as long as they stay outside. For some reason they like my shower. I scoop them up and put them outside, although I have one busy mama spider who is allowed to live in the corner of my kitchen window. She has been really busy this summer because the cat tore a hole in the screen. I don't mind spiders because they eat all the bugs! Moths, fruit flies, house flies, crane flies - you name it, that spider takes care of it.

She is a beauty! I love and hate spiders all at the same time. Here is some info. I would never kill a spider and always remove them from my presence. The only thing worse than a spider is a flying spider.

They are often called garden spiders and we have seen them and the webs in our garden. Creepy!

I think spiders are fascinating! The web is the strongest "string" for its size, and scientists have not been able to duplicate it. They are voracious eaters of other bugs, so I leave the webs for as long as I can stand them.

When we brought my newborn DD home from the hospital, there was a garden spider in the kitchen window. With a little imagination (maybe it was leftovers of anesthesia!) you could read NU LUV in the web. At 39, she still is a wonderful, lovely woman. Maybe I read Charlotte's Web too many times.
